about

Gatya Kelly

My name is Gatya Kelly – I’m a graphic and web designer, and artist painter. I’m originally from Sydney.

Initially I worked as an analyst in the early days of computer networking - it was a vibrant area in the 80′s, but I left it to study graphic design. After graduating I travelled the well-worn path of young designers… employed in various boutique design studios, then going freelance, doing mostly corporate work and a great deal of book design, and my business in Balmain grew.

Twenty-something years ago I moved to a farm in the Byron Bay area – milking cows, practising Permaculture, growing vegetables and planting trees, but also continuing to freelance to my Sydney and local clients. I ran a design studio in an old butter factory in Mullumbimby and started to paint there, later travelling and living in the UK, Corfu, France and Italy, fulfilling a desire to paint and be in Europe. I came back to Byron Bay.

I will always be a designer. I have so many years of graphic design experience, and I am still passionate about the work. What I love is beautiful design – clean, elegant and inspiring. I like working with clients who are totally behind their projects and have the enthusiasm to see them happen. I like being involved with people who communicate. I like attention to detail, and I like to create design that really works.
